Cotton Bowl Gets $140M Upgrade Ahead of Rivalry
The OU-Texas rivalry is back next weekend, and it will be played in a stadium with a brand-new look. The Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas, now 95 years old, just completed $140 million in renovations.
Kickoff for the Red River Rivalry is set for Saturday at 2:30 p.m. on ABC.
History and Tradition of the Rivalry
Since 1932, the Cotton Bowl has hosted this clash between the Sooners and Longhorns. Fans describe the unique split stadium — crimson on one side, burnt orange on the other — as one of the best scenes in college football.
Renovations Bring New Era
The renovations upgraded seating, improved accessibility, and modernized concessions and restrooms. Officials said the work ensures the Cotton Bowl will remain a centerpiece for one of college football’s greatest traditions.
With both OU and Texas now SEC members, this year’s matchup carries even more weight.
