A number of automobile manufacturers have announced their intention to drop AM radios from their vehicles beginning next year. Vance Harrison, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Broadcasters Association, says AM radio is important to a huge section of the American public, particularly in rural areas.
Congress is considering a bill that requires AM radios to be installed in every vehicle they manufacture. The overwhelming majority of the Oklahoma congressional delegation supports this bill. About half of our Radio Oklahoma affiliates carry our newscasts and agricultural news on AM stations.
