Claremore Woman Accused of Violent Intent
A 73-year-old Claremore woman is in the Rogers County Jail on charges of solicitation for murder and abuse or exploitation by a caretaker. However, investigators say this was not a one-time impulse moment.
Authorities allege she intentionally disconnected her 77-year-old husband’s oxygen supply and refused to reconnect it. Additionally, court affidavits indicate this behavior was repeated more than once.
Naomi Austin allegedly told people she hated her husband and he needed to die soon. Therefore, investigators moved fast to prevent further risk to the victim.
Bond Remains Substantial
This was not the first time she had disconnected her husband’s oxygen. Additionally, prosecutors say this establishes intent — not caregiver error.
She remains jailed on a two hundred fifty-thousand dollar bond. Additionally, jail officials say Austin has not bonded out and remains in custody while the case is being prepared.
Rogers County authorities say elder abuse crimes continue rising statewide as supervision gaps widen with aging populations. Therefore, they encourage caregivers, neighbors, and families to report suspicious treatment quickly — even if it feels uncomfortable.
This case will likely advance to formal district court review with full medical evidence chains. Additionally, prosecutors will assess whether attempted murder enhancements qualify under procedural thresholds.
