Casey’s to Acquire ASAP Energy, Adding 20 Oklahoma Convenience Stores
Casey’s General Stores has reached an agreement to acquire ASAP Energy Inc., bringing 20 convenience stores in Western Oklahoma under one of the nation’s largest convenience retail chains. The deal also includes ASAP Energy’s wholesale and commercial fuel operations, lubricants business and other related assets.
The agreement marks a major transition for the Weatherford-based, family-owned company, which Rick and Sheila Koch have operated for more than 47 years. The Kochs said the decision centered on preserving service to the communities ASAP Energy serves while creating more career opportunities for employees as Casey’s continues its expansion across smaller American towns.
Casey’s ASAP Energy Acquisition Includes 20 Oklahoma Stores
The proposed acquisition extends beyond the convenience stores familiar to drivers across Western Oklahoma.
According to a Casey’s representative, the transaction includes 20 ASAP Energy convenience stores, along with the company’s wholesale and commercial fuels and lubricants businesses and related assets.
That broader scope makes the agreement more than a change in ownership at the retail level. ASAP Energy’s commercial fuel operations serve customers whose needs extend beyond filling a vehicle at a convenience store.
The Kochs announced the agreement after more than four decades building the business in Western Oklahoma.
In their announcement of the agreement , Rick and Sheila Koch said they wanted employees to have access to additional resources, professional development and long-term career opportunities.
“We believe Casey’s can provide those opportunities,” the Kochs said.
They also cited Casey’s experience serving smaller communities as an important consideration in choosing a buyer.
The agreement has been announced, but a closing date and purchase price have not been disclosed in the information released about the transaction.
Western Oklahoma Family Business Enters a New Chapter
For communities served by ASAP Energy, the sale represents a change in ownership of a business that has been part of Western Oklahoma for nearly half a century.
The Kochs emphasized that continued customer service and employee opportunities were central to their decision.
Casey’s operates a substantial portion of its stores in smaller communities, making rural and small-town markets an established part of its business model.
That experience was important to the Kochs as they considered the future of ASAP Energy’s employees and customers.
The company’s transition also reflects a broader trend in convenience retailing, where larger chains expand by acquiring regional businesses with established locations, customer relationships and fuel operations.
For ASAP Energy employees, joining a company with thousands of locations could create access to additional training and career paths. Specific staffing decisions, store conversions and operational changes have not been announced.
The Kochs thanked the employees, customers and communities that supported their business throughout its history.

Casey’s Plans Continued Expansion Through Acquisitions and New Stores
The Casey’s ASAP Energy acquisition comes as the Iowa-based retailer continues expanding through both purchases and new construction.
Casey’s operated 2,959 stores as of July 31, 2026, compared with 2,944 stores at the beginning of its fiscal year. During the quarter, the company added nine newly constructed stores and 12 acquired locations while closing or divesting six stores.
In its September 8 financial results , Casey’s said it expects to open at least 120 stores during fiscal 2027 through a combination of acquisitions and new construction.
The company’s investor information identifies operations in 19 states and a workforce of approximately 50,000 employees.
Founded in Iowa in 1968, Casey’s has grown into the nation’s third-largest convenience store retailer and fifth-largest pizza chain.
Its expansion strategy places particular emphasis on smaller communities, where convenience stores often serve as important local stops for fuel, groceries and prepared food.
The ASAP Energy agreement would strengthen Casey’s presence across Western Oklahoma while bringing a longstanding regional business into a much larger retail and fuel distribution operation.
For now, the companies have announced an agreement to sell. Further details about the transaction’s completion and any changes customers may see at individual ASAP Energy locations have not been released.
