Bill to Increase Teacher Pay Fails to Gain Support

Taking politics out of teacher pay raises was the goal of State Representative Neil Hays's bill, but his plan didn’t win support. The bill would require a review of average teacher pay in surrounding states every two years.

However, that would bypass other steps in the process that fellow committee members did not support. His bill did pass the sub-committee without those provisions included.
