bill to ban cellphones in schools advances

Local control or a statewide ban.  That was the main issue for the Senate Education Committee on a bill to ban cell phones from all public schools.  State Senator Dave Rader favored the statewide approach. Opponents argued local control by school boards is a better approach.  The committee narrowly approved the statewide ban and sent the issue to the full senate for a vote.
