Big baseball news out of the sooner state

An Oklahoma 17-year-old is the first player taken in the MLB draft. The Washinton Nationals selected short stop Eli Willits of Fort Cobb. Ethan Holiday was selected fifth in the draft by the Colorado Rockies. He is the son of the former MLB all-star Matt Holiday. OU pitcher Kyson Witherspoon became the first OU player since 2022 to be drafted. He was number 15 in the first round selected by the Boston Red Sox.
