Attorney General Investigates Proposed Broken Arrow Mosque Development
State officials are taking a closer look at a proposed Broken Arrow mosque development planned near the Creek Turnpike, after concerns were raised about the organization tied to the land purchase.
Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond announced his office will investigate whether the project complies with state and federal law, including zoning, nonprofit governance, and national security considerations.
Broken Arrow Mosque Development Under Review
The property is owned by the North American Islamic Trust, an organization Drummond says may have historic ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. While no wrongdoing has been formally alleged, the Attorney General says the review is meant to ensure transparency and legal compliance before any construction moves forward.
Drummond emphasized that the investigation is not aimed at religious practice, but rather at verifying that all applicable laws are being followed.
City Council to Review Zoning Requests
The Broken Arrow City Council is scheduled to review zoning and permit requests related to the mosque and surrounding commercial development on January 12. City leaders say no approvals will be granted until all questions raised by the Attorney General’s office are resolved.
Officials note that the review process could delay or alter the project depending on the findings.
