amtrak should pay for the heartland flyer

Texas state government’s budget runs for two years. That means again next year, funding for the Heartland Flyer will be in doubt.

Oklahoma Transportation Director Tim Gatz says the Flyer should be part of Amtrak’s national Passenger rail service, not paid for by Oklahoma and Texas.

Gatz warns that even Oklahoma is running low on money to fund Flyer Operations and the legislature will have to step up to continue the passenger rail service next year.
