Most families have disabled members needing help. The list, once at 7,000 late last year, is now down to about 2,000. The Assistant Director for the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Wanda Felty, said it takes more than just throwing money at the problem.
“You also have to make sure there are resources to meet the needs of the individual,” Felty said.
The legislature has appropriated 33 million dollars for that job over the last two years.
