Oklahoma Works to Shorten Development Disability Support Waitlist

Thousands of Oklahoman's continue to wait for services for development disability support. The person overseeing efforts to help families stuck on the list that have been waiting years for help says she went through what they are going through.
Wanda Felty of OU Health Sciences Center has a disabled child who has had to wait. She says she knows families that have been on the waitlist for years.
“That waiting list was hopeless,” Felty said. “The families were losing hope.”
Oklahomans
The legislature has appropriated 33 million dollars in the past two years to shorten the wait time. The list, once at 7,000, is now less than 2,000 families.
