A Native American from Oklahoma who became an astronaut is supporting STEM education in tribal culture. Retired commander John Herrington is a member of the Chickasaw Nation and is making efforts to get more Native Americans involved in taking STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) classes.
Harrington says scientific excellence is part of his native heritage, as his ancestors were remarkable builders, engineers, chemists, and more.
