Oklahoma’s honor system on how much water is sucked out of the Ogallala Aquifer may be changing.
Water levels in the Ogallala Aquifer are dropping, with some down 250 feet. The aquifer covers eight states from Nebraska through the Oklahoma Panhandle, and down into Texas. The only area that is showing higher levels is in Nebraska where meters are used.
