Governor Stitt Looks to Modify State’s Asset Forfeiture Law

The Governor says that modifying the state’s asset forfeiture law allowing a person acquitted of a crime in which they had a vehicle or home seized returned to them is a matter of fairness.

“They shouldn’t have to hire attorneys and go through some kind of civil procedure to get their stuff back,” Stitt said.

Modifications to the law were attempted back a decade ago but failed.
