first woman firefighter in tahlequah

The city of Tahlequah has its first woman firefighter in the 130-year history of the department. Sarah Swayze says she feels like she belongs to something.  She taught middle school for five years prior to joining the fire service. Swayze’s goal is to be a role model for young girls in her community with any dream, especially those looking to break into a male-dominated field.
