A special Collinsville goat auction brought Oklahoma's agricultural community together over the weekend, raising nearly $30,000 to support the two children of Sara Duffey, the Owasso mother who was killed in a murder-suicide last month.

Held Saturday at Collinsville Livestock Sales, the fundraiser drew ranchers, livestock producers, business owners and community members from across northeastern Oklahoma. Through a unique rollover auction, a single donated goat was sold repeatedly, with each purchase adding to a fund dedicated to helping Sara's children with their immediate needs and future education.

Collinsville Goat Auction Unites Agricultural Community

The fundraiser centered on a special rollover goat auction, a tradition occasionally used by livestock communities to maximize charitable giving.

Instead of selling multiple animals, one donated goat was purchased and then immediately donated back to be auctioned again. The process continued throughout the event, allowing dozens of buyers to contribute toward the same cause.

By the end of the auction, organizers estimated the event had raised between $29,000 and $30,000 for Sara Duffey's two children.

Lyle Landers, the children's father, attended the auction and thanked those who participated, expressing appreciation for the overwhelming support shown by the agricultural community during an incredibly difficult time.

Local producers, ranchers and businesses all contributed to the effort, demonstrating the close-knit spirit that often defines Oklahoma's rural communities.

Tragedy Shook The Owasso Community

The fundraiser follows the tragic events of July 23, when the Owasso Police Department responded to a reported domestic violence call at a home near Collinsville.

Officers discovered 43-year-old Sara Duffey, known to many online as Sara Gilson, and her estranged husband, Jeremiah "Shawn" Duffey, dead from gunshot wounds in what investigators have described as a murder-suicide.

The case drew national attention after Sara had publicly discussed concerns about her estranged husband on social media and had previously obtained a protective order against him.

Authorities also confirmed Shawn Duffey had been under federal investigation involving allegations of lewd molestation connected to a youth basketball team he coached. Formal criminal charges had not been filed before the fatal shooting.

The investigation into the murder-suicide remains ongoing, although police have said there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Community Continues Supporting The Children

Saturday's fundraiser demonstrated how quickly Oklahoma communities often rally around families facing tragedy.
