The State Senate Health and Human Services committee approved a bill that relaxes the review process to five years for potential nursing home employees. State Senator Jessica Garvin says it’s important because the industry is facing a massive workforce shortage.
Senate Bill 1511 also closed a loophole that allowed juveniles who committed sex crimes to get employment at nursing homes and blocked those convicted of human trafficking from working in long-term care facilities.
